About The Artist
Background
I was born in Upstate New York and went to school at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where I studied Fashion Design and Illustration. I worked in the garment industry before moving to Miami, Florida that I now call home. I am married and have three lovely stepchildren and three grandbabies. I was asked to join the Palette Knife Group of Miami in 2017 and have since participate in two shows. I am continuing to learn and take classes at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
Talents
I am a painter and an amateur photographer. I've painted live on stage and for events. I have created several murals. Please visit my studio page to view previous works and works in progress. I have mainly worked in acrylic paint and am now experimenting with water soluble oil paints.
I've created costumes for school plays and other events.

Awards
Certificate of Appreciation from DCF in Downtown Miami for remaking and reviving a holding room for children suddenly thrown into the foster care system to be bright, inviting and usable.

Palette Knife Artists of Miami Through the Years
The Palette Knife Artists of Miami present our group activities through the years with an introduction by Lorraine Tucker and a tribute to Leona Rogers. The Palette Knife Artists of Miami was founded by Mai Yap while teaching classes at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. Mai has hand selected students to participate in this group.
